WHAT IS SEDI™?
SEDI™ (SelectraElectrodeionization) is a next-generation water purification technology developed by InfraCorp to address the limitations of conventional Electrodeionization (EDI) systems By intelligently separating the treatment of strongly and weakly ionized impurities into two independent voltage-controlled stages, SEDI™ ensures higher performance, greater reliability, and lower scaling risk in high-purity water applications . Unlike traditional EDI, which applies a uniform voltage across all contaminants, SEDI™ features a dual-stage, voltage-controlled process that independently targets both strongly and weakly ionized impurities. HOW IT WORKS
Conventional EDI uses a uniform voltage across the module, which limits removal efficiency for weakly ionized species and increases risk of scale formation.
SEDI™ solves this by introducing a two-stage design:
- Stage 1 – Low Voltage Zone: Targets strongly ionized impurities like Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, SO₄²⁻ efficiently, reducing risk of precipitation.
- Stage 2 – High Voltage Zone: Removes weakly ionized impurities such as CO₂, SiO₂, and B with enhanced driving force.
- Dual Reject Streams: Independent ion removal streams reduce cross-contamination and improve system robustness.
