WASTE TO ENERGY BioGaz™ SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION
BioGaz™ System — InfraCorp’s Integrated Anaerobic Energy & Purification Platform
InfraCorp has expanded its advanced treatment portfolio with BioGaz™, a fully integrated anaerobic digestion and gas purification system designed for high-strength industrial wastewater.
Overview
The BioGaz™ System combines two core modules into a single optimized platform:
-
- Wastewater Anaerobic Treatment System
- Biogas Purification & Energy Recovery System
This end-to-end approach transforms organic-rich wastewater into renewable energy while significantly reducing treatment costs and environmental impact.A Wastewater Anaerobic System combined with a Gas Purification System provides a highly efficient, sustainable, and energy-positive solution for treating high-strength industrial wastewater.
FROM BIOGAS TO BIOMETHANE
Biogas is made up of methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, water vapor and other minor constituents and particulates. The methane, and therefore the energy, content of the biogas can increase by removing the other constituents – the methane content can be increased to 98% or more.
Biogas is a renewable fuel that can be used in a number of ways. Biogas can be used in boilers to provide heat only, in combined heat and power plants (CHP) to generate both electricity and heat, or upgraded to biomethane and then injected into the gas network or used as a vehicle fuel. InfraCorp has extensive experience in advising clients on all these methods
What is BIOGAZ™ Used For?
The final biogas or upgraded biomethane is a versatile energy source:
- Electricity and Heat: Burned in a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit to generate renewable electricity (fed into the grid) and heat (used on-site or for district heating).
- Vehicle Fuel: Upgraded to biomethane, it can be used as a clean fuel for buses, trucks, and cars (Bio-CNG or Bio-LNG).
- Inject into the Gas Grid: After upgrading to meet standards, biomethane can be injected directly into the natural gas grid.
- Cooking Fuel: Can replace firewood, charcoal, or LPG in smaller-scale applications, reducing indoor air pollution.
Technology Benefits
-
- Waste Management: Reduces the volume of organic waste going to landfills, which cuts greenhouse gas emissions (methane from landfills is a potent GHG) and odor.
- Renewable Energy: Produces a continuous, storable source of clean energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
- Circular Economy: Closes the nutrient loop. Digestate is a superior fertilizer that returns organic matter and nutrients to the soil, reducing the need for energy-intensive synthetic fertilizers.
- Climate Change Mitigation: Captures methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere and displaces CO₂ from fossil fuels.
Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment with Integrated Gas Purification
A Wastewater Anaerobic System combined with a Gas Purification System provides a highly efficient, sustainable, and energy-positive solution for treating high-strength industrial wastewater.
1. Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment System
Anaerobic treatment is a proven, cost-effective method for reducing high levels of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) in industrial effluents.
The process takes place in an oxygen-free environment where specialized anaerobic microorganisms break down organic pollutants.
Key Functions
- Biological conversion of organic pollutants into biogas.
- Operates in oxygen-free conditions using selected anaerobic bacteria.
- Produces minimal biosolids, reducing sludge handling costs.
- Handles high-strength wastewater from industries such as food & beverage, chemicals, pulp & paper, pharmaceuticals, and agro-processing.
Biological Reactions
- Organic matter →Methane (CH₄) + Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
3. Integrated Gas Purification System
Raw biogas usually contains impurities—primarily H₂S, moisture, VOCs, and particulates—that must be removed before utilization.
A dedicated Gas Purification System typically includes:
- Desulfurization (H₂S removal)
- Moisture removal / drying
- CO₂ reduction (optional, for biomethane upgrading)
- Particulate filtration
- Compression and storage (when needed)
Outcomes of Gas Purification
- Protects boilers and CHP engines from corrosion.
- Increases combustion efficiency.
- Produces clean, consistent-quality biogas or biomethane.
Ensures compliance with industry and safety standards.
